Mexico
Quick Little Getaway
Mexico is the country I have traveled to the most. I usually fly here at least once a year, if not more. It’s a pretty short flight from Calgary, it’s usually cheap and I can just sit back on the beach and relax while sipping on a margarita.
It’s a nice place to spend a weekend partying with friends or just relaxing on the beach with my girlfriend. It has pretty much everything I want out of a quick weekend getaway.
So Much To See And Do
Xcaret
Out of all the excursions Mexico offers, Xcaret is my favorite. It’s an ecopark with a river that flows through it that you can float down and into many underground caves. There’s many animals you can see here including bats, stingrays, jaguars, turtles, deer and many more animals. It also has many Mayan ruins you can explore up close and personal with. It’s a great way to spend a day in the Mayan Riviera with plenty of things to do for the whole family.
Shop Til You Drop
Cancun Fashion Harbor
The shopping in Cancun is simply amazing. It has a little something for everyone from the boutique shopper to the high end fashion shopper. The Cancun fashion harbor has some amazing shops including Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent to smaller souvenir shops to buy trinkets and Mayan chocolate or coffee.
Delicious Food
First time I was in Mexico, I was disappointed by the fact that they had no hard shell tacos. One bite of an authentic taco and that disappointment went away. The ones on the resort aren’t as great as the ones you find in town though. Plus tacos are a great after club snack when you’re done partying in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen
The seafood is another personal favorite of mine. Caribbean lobster isn’t like the Atlantic lobster I’m used to eating back home. The meat isn’t as dense or sweet and there’s no claw meat. It’s delicious though if it’s grilled with butter, just be careful that they don’t overcook it.
